A warrant of arrest has been issued against a doctor and her worker accused of administering a drug to a patient without proper diagnosis.
Magistrate Theresia Nyangena has issued a warrant against MEDICAL PRACTITIONER Jane Njeri Kamau and Vivian Chebet Masai for failure to appear in court for plea taking.
“It is hereby ordered that the accused persons have no reason to be absent in court today, a warrant of arrest is issued for the accused persons, “Ordered Magistrate Nyangena.
The doctor is expected in court to plead to Negligence and causing harm charges contrary to section 243 of the penal code CAP 63 LAWS OF Kenya.
The intended charge sheet reads that on March 1, 2025 at unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, being a medical practitioner, unlawfully did a negligent act in the treatment of Nancy Muthoni Warutumo by administering the said unregistered drug namely MOUNJARO (TRIZEPATIDE 7.5 MG) without proper diagnosis, due care ,and professional diligence, thereby causing harm to her.
Jane Njeri is facing a second count of selling unregistered drugs against law.
It is said that on similar dates and places, she unlawfully sold and supplied to Nancy Muthoni a medicinal product namely MOUNJARO (TRIZEPATIDE 7.5 MG) which was not registered by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, contrary to the law.
The matter will be mentioned on March 24, 2026.
