Police in Nairobi have arrested a group of TikTok content creators suspected of deliberately harassing members of the public, including grabbing and intimidating women, in busy neighbourhoods such as Eastleigh, Pangani and Muthaiga.
According to investigators, the suspects allegedly targeted unsuspecting pedestrians, staged confrontational and indecent acts and recorded the incidents on camera for the sole purpose of creating viral content.
The videos were then uploaded on social media platforms to attract views, followers and online engagement.
Police say the actions amount to harassment and indecent assault, adding that the arrests followed complaints from members of the public and a review of circulated videos.
The suspects are currently being processed and are expected to be charged in court as investigations continue.
