Eric Otieno, alias ‘Dube’, Vincent Odhiambo, alias ‘Tinga’ and Carlos Owiti, alias ‘Kalonje’, accused of attacking Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, have been released on bond after pleading not guilty before a Kisumu court.
The three appeared before Resident Magistrate Daniel Chumba, where they denied charges of robbery with violence and stealing contrary to the Penal Code.
According to the prosecution, the accused, together with accomplices still at large, allegedly attacked the senator and robbed him of valuables during an incident at an eatery in Kisumu on April 8.
Defence lawyer Ken Omollo urged the court to grant bail, arguing that the suspects had cooperated with investigators.
The prosecution opposed the request, citing ongoing efforts to arrest additional suspects linked to the incident.
The court, however, granted each of the accused a bond of Ksh1 million.
The case will be mentioned on May 6, 2026.
