A Moyale businessman has been charged with allegedly stealing 7,700 cartons of Gil Oil bar soap valued at Ksh10.2 million in a case involving a local wholesaler.
Ahmed Dawe Dime was arraigned before the Milimani Chief Magistrate’s Court on September 3, 2026, where he faced a charge of stealing contrary to Section 268(1) as read with Section 275 of the Penal Code.
According to the charge sheet, Dime allegedly committed the offence on diverse dates between December 24, 2025 and May 16, 2026, at Moyale Wholesalers Limited, located along North Airport Road in Embakasi Sub-County, Nairobi County.
He is accused of stealing the 7,700 cartons of Gil Oil bar soap jointly with others who have not been brought before the court. The prosecution alleges that the goods were the property of Hussein Hirbo Galcha.
Dime is also facing an alternative charge of handling stolen goods under Section 322(1)(2) as read with Section 3 of the Penal Code.
Under the alternative count, the prosecution alleges that on May 18, 2026, at Moyale Trading Centre within Moyale County, Dime dishonestly received and retained 424 cartons of Gil Oil bar soap, knowing or having reason to believe that they were stolen goods.
The charge sheet lists Hussein Hirbo Galcha, Oscar Midenyo, CPL Oscar Nthusa, a PC Oduor from Moyale, PC Jonathan Mayiek and CPL Tom Olanda as witnesses, alongside other witnesses who are yet to be named.
Dime was arrested on September 2, 2026 and was subsequently presented before the court.
He was granted cash bail of Ksh400,000.
The case will be mentioned on September 17, 2026, for further directions.
The charges against Dime are allegations and have not been proved in court.
