Four people have been arraigned before the Milimani Law Courts over allegations of demanding Ksh200,000 from a foreign national through threats and intimidation.
The accused are Peter Macharia Gatena, Lawrence Ireri Karani, Josphat Mburu Kamau and Ruannalice Nyambura Ng’ang’a.
The four are alleged to have committed the offence on September 8, 2026, in the River Road area of Nairobi, together with other individuals who have not been charged.
The prosecution alleges that they demanded the money from Hussein Yusuf, a sales manager at Teelux Company Limited, using threats.
According to the charge, the accused allegedly warned that Yusuf’s business premises would be subjected to continued interference and harassment if he failed to hand over the Ksh200,000.
The four were arrested on the same day and taken to court the following day, where they denied the allegations.
The court subsequently considered their bond applications and released each of them on a Ksh50,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount, or an alternative cash bail of Ksh20,000.
The case is expected to return on September 23, 2026, for mention.
