The body of the late Kasipul Member of Parliament, HON CHARLES WERE, arrived this morning at Kabunde Airstrip in Homa Bay County, marking the beginning of his final journey to his homestead in Karabok, Central Kasipul.
The late legislator was received with solemn honours by fellow Members of Parliament and other dignitaries, including Hon. Mishi Mboko (Likoni), Hon. Wilberforce Oundo (Funyula), Hon. Rosa Buyu (Kisumu West), Hon. Peter Kaluma (Homa Bay Town), Hon. Eve Obara (Kabondo Kasipul), Hon. Martin Owino (Ndhiwa), Hon. Millie Odhiambo (Suba North), Hon. Adipo Okwome (Rachuonyo), Senator T.J. Kajwang’ (Homa Bay County), and Homa Bay Governor H.E. Gladys Wanga.
As the funeral convoy made its way through Homa Bay, hundreds of residents lined the streets to pay their last respects to the late MP, visibly mourning the loss of their leader and representative.
Hon. Ong’ondo Were, a second-term legislator, tragically lost his life on the night of Wednesday, 30th April 2025, after being fatally shot by unknown assailants along Ngong Road shortly after leaving Parliament Buildings.
The funeral procession will proceed to Agoro Sare High School in Kasipul for sermons, prayers, and a public viewing of the body. Thereafter, the body will be taken to his Karabok home for an overnight vigil.
Hon. Were will be laid to rest on Friday, 9th May 2025, at his Agoro residence in Central Kasipul.
