In a shocking turn of events, Nairobi County has ordered the immediate closure of all Naivas Supermarkets branches in Nairobi city after county health officials made a disturbing discovery: expired products on the shelves!

The crackdown came after the Nairobi County Health Committee raised an alarm over serious public health concerns, revealing that the popular retail giant had been selling expired goods to unsuspecting customers. The committee’s chair, MCA Maurice Ochieng, made the dramatic announcement on Wednesday, May 14, at the Naivas Moi Avenue branch, where the incriminating evidence was found.

“We are here at Naivas Moi Avenue and have found expired products on display, posing a serious health risk to Nairobi residents,” declared Ochieng, his tone resolute and unyielding. The revelation left shoppers and staff in disbelief as the news spread like wildfire.

During a surprise spot check, county legislators stumbled upon expired yoghurt and other suspicious items with missing or unclear expiry dates, a grave violation of public health standards. The shocking discovery sparked an immediate response, with county authorities moving swiftly to shut down the entire chain within Nairobi.

Social media exploded with reactions, with some Nairobi residents applauding the bold move to protect consumers, while others expressed shock that such a reputable brand would be caught in such a scandal. One Twitter user lamented, “If Naivas can’t guarantee our safety, where can we shop without fear?”

Authorities are now investigating how the expired items ended up on the shelves, with some insiders hinting at possible lapses in quality control and management oversight. Health officials have vowed to conduct thorough inspections of other major supermarkets to ensure consumer safety.

As the dust settles and Nairobi’s residents search for alternative shopping options, Naivas faces an uphill battle to restore its reputation. Will the retail giant bounce back from this public relations nightmare, or will the scandal leave a lasting
