Nairobi Man in Court Over Alleged Fraudulent Jubilee Insurance Claims

A Nairobi man has been charged with allegedly conspiring with others to defraud Jubilee Insurance Kenya Limited through claims linked to a purported road accident.

Edwin Odhiambo Oduor appeared before the Milimani Chief Magistrate’s Court and was charged with conspiracy to defraud, contrary to Section 317 of the Penal Code.

The prosecution alleges that Oduor committed the offence between September 8 and October 11, 2023, within Kenya, together with other individuals who have not been charged alongside him.

According to the charge sheet, the accused and his alleged accomplices are accused of attempting to obtain money from Jubilee Insurance through claims arising from a purported road traffic accident involving Linus Kinyua Muthinga, whose vehicle was allegedly insured by the company.

Oduor was arrested on September 3, 2026, before being brought before the Milimani court the following day to answer to the charge.

The court granted him bond of Ksh300,000 or an alternative cash bail of Ksh100,000.

The matter is scheduled to return to court on September 17, 2026, for pre-trial directions.
