Andrew Abel Gaballa Tells Court He Sent Ksh65.37 Million to Lawyer Conrad Anangwe Maloba’s Law Firm’s Accounts in Gold Deal

International gold investor Andrew Abel Gaballa on Wednesday told the Milimani Magistrate’s Court that he transferred USD 505,000 into bank accounts belonging to Conrad Law Advocates LLP, a law firm associated with advocate Conrad Anangwe Maloba, as part of a gold transaction that is the subject of an ongoing criminal case.

Gaballa was virtually testifying before Principal Magistrate P.K. Mutai, where he detailed the payments and the agreements that preceded the transfers.

The witness told the court that before sending the money, he met Maloba at his office on the 15th floor of the Global Trade Centre (GTC) in Nairobi.

“I met him in his office in Level 15 in the Global Trade Centre, at 1502, at Maloba Advocates’ office,” Gaballa testified.

He said he transferred the funds from his account at Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) in Dubai on February 13, 2026, adding that the payments were made at Maloba’s request.

“That amount was paid on the 13th of February 2026,” he told the court, adding, “It was sent from me on request of Conrad.”

According to Gaballa, the first transfer of USD 495,000 was deposited into an Ecobank Kenya account ending 6680, which he identified as the Conrad Law Advocates LLP Trust Account.

“The first account number was 66****80… In EcoBank Kenya and that’s Conrad Law Advocates LLP Trust Account,” he testified.

He further told the court that a second transfer of USD 10,000 was made on the same day into a Diamond Trust Bank account ending 7102, also belonging to Conrad Law Advocates LLP.

“It is a different account number… 071***02, and it’s for Diamond Trust Bank Limited, Conrad Law Advocates LLP,” he said.

Gaballa produced SWIFT transfer documents from Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, which he said confirmed that both transactions had been successfully processed and the funds received.

“That’s the legal document in international financial transfers. You receive a SWIFT document when the funds have been received and arrived in an account,” he testified.

The prosecution subsequently applied to have the SWIFT transfer documents admitted as prosecution exhibits.

The court also heard that three agreements had been executed before the money was transferred.

According to Gaballa, the documents included a Sales and Purchase Agreement, a second agreement relating to the transaction and a Letter of Engagement for Legal Services and Funds Management signed with Conrad Law Advocates LLP.

He testified that the Sales and Purchase Agreement was executed on January 19, 2026, between Business Express Enterprises Limited, Mohammadi Faraji, and Sakina Commodities FZCO, the company he represented as a director.

Gaballa told the court that the agreement provided for the supply of 600 kilograms of gold dore bars, subject to a 10-kilogram collateral arrangement.

“What was agreed in this agreement is that a total consignment amount of 600 kilos, less 10 kilos of collateral, would be provided in the form of 1kg gold dore bars,” he testified.

The hearing continues before Principal Magistrate P.K. Mutai at the Milimani Magistrate’s Court.
