LIPSIA RETURNS WITH “ANGEL”: A NEW SOUND, A NEW ENERGY, A NEW CHAPTER

After an extended creative break, Angolan singer Lipsia returns to music with her new single Angel a song with an unusual story, connecting the artist she once was with everything that lies ahead.

One of the first signs of Lipsia’s return came with Lipsia’s appearance on TRACE in South Africa. In Johannesburg, she introduced Angel and made one thing clear: after several years away from an active solo career, she is ready to speak to her audience through music once again.

Lipsia herself captured the moment on Instagram in just a few words “A new sound. A new energy. A new chapter. Can’t wait for you to hear this one.”

The story of Angel began back in 2020. Lipsia recorded the song before the birth of her second daughter, but the track was never released. The artist chose to put the song aside until she felt ready to give it a new life. A great deal changed in the artist’s life during that time. Motherhood, relocation, living and working across different countries, and encounters with new people and cultures all became part of her personal and professional journey.

In 2022, Lipsia received international recognition when she became a winner of the Show4me Independent Awards 2022. In the years that followed, she spent a significant amount of time in Dubai, remaining active across creative and professional projects, including an appearance at Dubai Fashion Week. And in 2026, the right moment for Angel finally arrived.

Returning to a recording she had made six years earlier, Lipsia decided not simply to take the song out of the archives, but to give it an entirely new life. DJ and producer Necandy joined the project, reimagining the musical landscape of Angel and transforming the original recording into a contemporary international Afrobeat track. African rhythms meet an international pop sensibility: warm percussion, a pulsating groove and Lipsia’s sensual vocals create an atmosphere that feels intimate and danceable at the same time. Angel retains the emotion of the song recorded in 2020, but its energy and sound belong unmistakably to 2026.

For Lipsia, Angel is not an attempt to return to the past. It is a way of returning herself – reintroducing her voice, reconnecting with her audience after a long pause, opening the next chapter of her musical story. And new music is already taking shape. According to the singer, she is currently working actively on a new EP, made entirely of new material and deeply inspired by the experiences of the past several years of her life.

The geography of those years has been remarkably diverse: Angola, Dubai, South Africa, Portugal, Brazil and even Russia. Each place has left its own imprint – through its people, rhythms, languages, fashion, culture and musical energy. Yet at the heart of Lipsia’s evolving sound remain her Angolan and African roots – the cultural foundation through which she absorbs and interprets everything she encounters around the world. It is this collection of experiences that Lipsia now intends to bring into her forthcoming EP, blending her African roots with the international perspective she has gained during the years away from an active solo career.

If Angel brings Lipsia back to her listeners, the project that follows will reveal who she has become while she was away. “A new sound. A new energy. A new chapter.” Lipsia’s “Angel” is available now on all major digital music platforms.
