Mohammed Khalif Hassan appears before Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki at a Nairobi court on charges related to a high-profile fraud involving a purported spaghetti import scheme.
According to court documents, Mohammed Khalif Hassan is accused of obtaining KSh 8,512,700 from a fellow businessman, Osman Mohamed Ali, through pretenses. The prosecution alleges that between February 18, 2023, and May 21, 2024, at an unspecified location within the country, the accused intended to defraud by claiming he had the capability and means to import spaghetti on behalf of Mr. Osman.
However, the prosecution asserts that this promise was knowingly false, and the accused had no actual ability or legitimate access to conduct such an import. This calculated move, as presented by the prosecution, misled the complainant into parting with a significant sum of money under fraudulent circumstances.

During his court appearance, Mr. Hassan pleaded not guilty to the charges laid against him. Represented by his legal counsel, the defendant maintained his innocence and requested a fair hearing process.
Magistrate Robinson Ondieki granted the accused bail terms, which included either a cash bail of KSh 700,000 or a bond of KSh 2 million, with two sureties of a similar amount. The court also emphasized that the accused must comply with all set conditions or risk revocation of the bail.
