Prominent Rift Valley advocate Wesley Kipruto, who previously served as a legal adviser to President William Ruto during his time as Deputy President, has died following a fire at his home.
His sudden death has sent shockwaves through the legal fraternity, with colleagues, friends and family paying tribute to the veteran lawyer while mourning his untimely passing.
The tragedy comes only weeks after Kipruto was involved in a fatal road accident at Burnt Forest, an incident that drew significant public attention.
In the aftermath of that crash, allegations circulated online claiming the lawyer had been driving under the influence of alcohol and later escaped prosecution because of his alleged influence.
However, those claims remain unverified, and authorities have not publicly confirmed them or announced any findings supporting the allegations.
As news of Kipruto’s death spread, social media was flooded with messages of condolence from friends and associates remembering his contribution to the legal profession.
One of his close friends also questioned the circumstances surrounding the fatal fire, urging investigators to establish exactly what happened.
“The tears of our family… tears of these young children will never, never ever come without an answer. God, if there’s someone behind the death of my brother… a time will come… Wes can’t just go like this. We are crying, but someone will pay for these tears,” the friend wrote.
The post has fueled calls for a comprehensive investigation to determine whether the fire was accidental or if foul play may have been involved.
Police had not, by the time of publication, disclosed the cause of the fire or indicated whether any arrests had been made or criminal investigations launched.
As investigations continue, Kipruto is being remembered as a respected advocate whose death has left many in the legal and political circles mourning the loss of a colleague and friend.
