Senior P.C.E.A officials fined over contempt of Court

The Senior  Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) Secretary-General, Rev. Dr. Patrick Waihenya, and the Moderator, Rev. Dr. Thegu Mutahi have been fined  after finding them guilty of contempt of court.

The two senior clerics were convicted for willfully disobeying court orders that barred them from installation of David Nderitu Ndumo as PCEA Honorary Treasurer.

Despite being served with the injunction, they went ahead and installed David Ndumo as the Treasurer while there were active court orders barring the installation

In her ruling, Lady Justice Stella Mutuku faulted the church leaders for openly defying the law, stating:

“While fully aware of the court order issued on April 8, 2024, the respondents proceeded to participate in the installation, thereby deliberately breaching the order of this court.”

They have been ordered to pay a fine of Sh150,000 each and Sh 100,000 each.

Failure to which they will be arrested and committed to civil jail.
