Vocal  Activists Call for Constitutional Adherence Ahead of June 25 Protests.

A Vocal Human Rights Activist Francis Awino also  Chairperson of Bunge la Mwananchi, led a press address calling for constitutional adherence by the government.The youth led briefing comes ahead of a peaceful march planned for June 25 to commemorate the lives lost on June 25 2024.

They emphasized that they wouldn’t back down under state intimidation. They called out to state authorities stating that they were not seeking permission to convene and only sought to exercise their constitutional rights.

“We are not asking for permission so that we can do what we want to do on the 25th,” Awino stated, holding a copy of the Constitution. “We are only asking you to follow the Constitution and adhere to Article 37.”

During the press conference Awino stated that the group had already notified the police jn accordance with Section 5 of the Public Order Act,further adding that the public address would serve as an additional formal notice to the authorities.

Awino further reavealed that a number of the organizers had received safety threats and that this would not deter them nonetheless.

Awino stated that even though his life couldbbe in danger he refuses to sit back and watch while there is an opportunity to bring positive change.He called on all Kenyans to stand up for what is right.

The Bunge la Mwananchi chairperson urged the state to deploy disciplined security forces with the primary madate of protecting peaceful citizens. He stated that this would prevent hired goons and rogues from hijacking the peaceful demonstration.

They concluded the brief by calling for Kenyans to show up for the peaceful march with the aim of demanding strict accountability and better governance.
