The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested four members of the Gatundu North Constituency NG-CDF Committee over allegations of demanding a bribe from a contractor in exchange for facilitating payment for completed public works.
Those apprehended are Annah Mugure Njoroge, Susan Wanjiru Muchiri, Stephen Waititu Mungai and James Kibe Ngige.

The arrests followed a complaint that the officials had allegedly solicited Ksh 300,000 to approve payment of Ksh 9.1 million owed to the contractor.
According to investigators, the contractor had completed three projects at Karure Primary School, including the construction of a modern kitchen, landscaping and levelling works, as well as renovations to the administration block and six classrooms.
The works were finalized on January 31, 2026, after which the contractor submitted a request for payment.
However, the committee members are said to have withheld approval, citing unresolved issues that were not clearly specified.
On February 23, 2026, the complainant reportedly met three of the suspects, who allegedly demanded the bribe in order to clear the pending payment without raising objections.
EACC officers then mounted an operation on February 25, 2026, during which the four suspects were arrested at Karure Primary School while allegedly receiving Ksh 250,000 from the contractor.
Following their arrest, the suspects were taken to the Integrity Centre for processing before being booked at Kilimani Police Station.
They were later released on a cash bail of Ksh 40,000 each as investigations continue.
