Peter Gathungu Gikonyo found guilty of theft by agent at Milimani Law Courts.

Milimani Court convicts Peter Gathungu Gikonyo on two counts of theft by agent faces jail or heavy fines.

  • Court Sentences Peter Gathungu Gikonyo 24 months in Ksh6.1 Million Theft by Agent Case.

The Milimani Law Courts have sentenced Peter Gathungu Gikonyo after he was found guilty of theft by agent.

The case was heard before Chief Magistrate Dolphina Alego. According to the charge sheet, Gikonyo, an agent of Kaggs Investment Limited, stole Ksh4,390,560 between June 29 and September 1, 2020. The money had been entrusted to him for safe custody.

Court records also indicate a total of Ksh6,133,900 arising from audit and agreement figures presented during the proceedings.

The prosecution was led by State Prosecutor James Murage, while the complainant was represented by lawyer Justus Kiunga.

The court convicted Gikonyo on two counts under Section 268(1) as read with Section 283(c) of the Penal Code.

He was sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment or a fine of Ksh2 million on Count I and 12 months’ imprisonment or a fine of Ksh800,000 on Count II.
