The Catholic Diocese of Eldoret is cloaked in mourning, its faithful shaken to the core. In a heartbreaking turn of events, Rev. Fr. Allois Cheruiyot Bett met a cruel and untimely death this morning, gunned down by armed bandits while carrying out his pastoral mission in the volatile Tot region. The attack, which has sent shockwaves across the nation, was confirmed by Eldoret Diocese Auxiliary Bishop John Kiplimo Arap Lelei.

Fr. Allois wasn’t just a priest. He was a beacon of light, a gentle warrior for peace, and a humble servant of God who walked with the broken, lifted the downtrodden, and preached love in places many feared to go.

This senseless act of brutality has not only stolen a beloved clergyman but it has also ripped a hole in the heart of a community he nurtured with prayers, compassion, and unwavering dedication. He was more than his collar. He was a friend to the forgotten, a listener to the lonely, and a father to the faithless.

Fr. Allois, your mission was holy. Your death is haunting. As we mourn this soul-stirring loss, we pray. May your journey into eternity be peaceful.

May your killers face justice. And may this nation never grow numb to such tragedy. Rest in power, Fr. Allois Cheruiyot Bett. Your light may be gone, but your legacy will not dim.
