Kenyan Lobby Group Based in UK Warns of Major Public Unrest Against Leaders

A Kenyan lobby group based in the United Kingdom has issued a strong warning, saying the country’s people are nearing a breaking point with their political leaders.

The Justice and Equity Council (JEC) released an open letter claiming that Kenya’s government has become a “nightmare” of corruption and broken promises. The group, which is led by Kenyans living abroad, says a public “reckoning” is coming because citizens are tired of the current situation.

In their statement, the JEC made serious accusations against Kenya’s leaders. They said the president’s office has misused government institutions, and that Parliament has become like a “marketplace” where politicians trade votes for money and contracts. They also criticized county governors for acting like “miniature monarchs” and the opposition for failing to provide proper checks on power.

The letter highlighted the gap between spending on politicians and funding for public services. While budgets for the presidency and parliament have increased, the JEC noted that hospitals lack money, universities are struggling, and schools can’t get funding for poor children.

Despite these problems, the group says hope remains in the people themselves. They pointed to Kenya’s history of standing up against colonial rule and one-party dictatorship, suggesting that the same spirit of resistance is awakening today.

The JEC’s letter doesn’t specify what actions they plan to take, but serves as a strong warning to current leaders. The message comes at a time when many Kenyans are concerned about the cost of living and how the country is being governed.

The group ended their warning by saying that change is inevitable, and that “the giant is stirring, slowly but surely.”
